Guest Post: High Point Highlights

Today’s guest post comes to us from designer Kelly Kole. You can learn more about Kelly and her business at www.kandrac-kole.com

We were honored when Mitzi asked us to share some of our favorite finds from High Point Market! In case you aren’t familiar with High Point Market it is a 10 day “furniture show” in High Point, North Carolina where all of the furniture manufacturers showcase their newest products for the upcoming season. In layman’s terms, its 10 solid days of furniture and design eye candy. Yes please!

We (like Mitzi) are always excited to share with our readers the latest and greatest trends, and there is no better place to find what’s hot than High Point. We were lucky enough to be chosen this year as 1 of 9 “style spotters” for the show, which gave us a first class pass to every showroom to make a collection of our favorite trends. After 5 long days of scouring the city we came up with our top twenty finds! Here are 5 of our favorites that we think will be seen in a big way in 2013! Don’t worry, you can check out all 20 on our High Point Style Spotter Pinterest Board.

1. Thibaut’s Sulu Wallpaper
Not only is wallpaper back in style, but also it’s brighter and bolder than ever before! We love the large-scale floral print in the fun and updated color ways. Emerald may be the color of the year but orange isn’t too far behind!

2. CR Laine’s Bradstreet Spool Chair in Zig Zag Onyx Linen
Chevron has been updated with a slight ikat twist, and the traditional spindle chair has a refreshed vibe in glossy black with light distressing. This chair is super cool as is, and it epitomizes the merging of traditional and modern, which was a huge trend this season!

3. Stanley Furniture’s Carolina Sofa Table
This new collection (Charleston Regency) from Stanley just oozes cool. It’s sleek and stylish while still staying true to the Stanley name that we all love. This table is super thin and perfect for a narrow space, and its painted base with wooden top gives their typically traditional line a more causal vibe.

4. Lane Venture’s Swivel Lounge Chairs
For a while there’s been a trend of bringing the “outdoors inside” but Lane Venture has the right idea and is shaking things up by creating furniture that is trendy enough for inside but can withstand the demands of outside furniture. Our outdoor spaces are now just an extension of our homes, and with all this great spring weather who wouldn’t love to have a fun outdoor space!

5. Regina Andrew’s Maze End Tables
These show-stopping lacquer tables take the trendy Greek key motif to a whole new level. They look ultra modern in this setting, but they would also look great used as a side table in a fun family room! The Greek key design paired with the super gloss lacquer is the perfect on-trend combination from this spring’s market!

Now that you’ve seen a taste of some of the great trends we “spotted” at this spring’s market we hope that you will pop on over to our Pinterest board and check out the rest. We can’t wait to see these trends work their way into design, and we hope that you love them as much as we do!
